One major high-street retailer identified the requirement to handle seasonal products in response to customer demand as the most critical issue within its supply chain. A clothing manufacturer which supplies one of the biggest household name chain stores also cited speed to market as a crucial requirement.
It may well be that after a year’s experience of the reality of e-commerce, organisations are realising that the biggest difference going online makes is to increase customer expectations of fast, personalised service.
