It’s an old adage that even the best-laid plans can go awry – and no more so than when IT projects are involved. Tales of horrendous time and cost over-runs are legion, so much so that IT developments have been compared to runaway trains, liable to come off the rails at any moment as they accelerate towards disaster.
In a bid to keep control over progress, resources and spending, many organisations use some kind of project management software and methodology.
