Look inside any new economy organisation and often you will see old economy problems – mountains of paper, variable workloads to be balanced and prioritised, systems to be updated, fulfilment backlogs to be managed.
It would not be unreasonable to assume, for example, that the major e-banks would have reached the stage by now where most web-based transactions are carried out without any human intervention, thus taking huge chunks out of the cost of the process.
