CGEY simplifies structure to rescue margins

Paul Hermelin: aims to restore CGEY’s operating margins

Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGEY) has embarked on a major restructure that will see the loss of 3,500 jobs and the launch of a transformation programme aimed at adapting its organisation to market conditions.

The job losses are being made across Europe, predominantly among the company’s senior management and in its telco and financial services operations. The number of lay-offs could also escalate as the company attempts to redeploy a further 3,000 non-client facing staff – many of whom are consultants and may be reluctant to move – to the front line of sales and delivery.
