These findings suggest organisations may well be looking for outside assistance to ensure they can get PSA applications to work cost-effectively and without too much disruption. Indeed, a quarter (26%) of our sample say they will be looking for consultancy advice with implementation and 18% want help with selecting the software.

Of course, one option for those concerned about the potential pitfalls is to go for a hosted or application service provider (ASP) approach, where the company does not have to buy and install the software itself, but effectively rents it from a third party.
