If one were needed, the long-awaited arrival of the euro in the cash tills of Europe is a wake-up call to anyone still questioning the feasibility of European integration. Globalisation is not a slowing trend.

However, the widely reported failure of ‘big bang’ approaches to CRM has put many off pursuing a pan-European strategy in this area. They have chosen instead to allow countries to go their own way with the technology, thereby avoiding the anticipated political nightmare of trying to negotiate a common solution.
