A large number of organisations are
currently examining portal technology and concepts. However, portals are often seen as a solution to specific problems, rather than as a strategic answer to core business needs.
This means many companies are unaware of the potential opportunities portal technology offers – beyond the typical content and data management applications, which treat portals merely as a more flexible version of their existing intranet – and are therefore failing to deliver a substantial return on investment.
