This year has been hailed by many as the ‘year of the portal’. Unfortunately, empty promises of improved efficiencies post-Y2K and the continued downturn in the IT sector have created a level of scepticism among business and IT managers.

Ultimately, the ‘year of the portal’ could turn out to be a bit of a misnomer: projects fail when driven by IT.
