A PMP Research study of strategic alliances between consultants and IT vendors finds that partnering is still going strong despite massive upheaval in the market. Pat Sweet reports.

Overall, though, activity levels fell substantially, with the average number of projects in the manufacturing sector, for example, halving from 22 to 10 by the end of last year. E-business assignments also dropped, down to an average of 11 compared with 18 previously.
The research asked CSIs to indicate those areas of consultancy in which they were most active. While the highest proportion (25%) were involved in the management of ongoing projects, the omens for the future do not look good.
