The recent succession of corporate financial scandals has raised justifiable concerns about the roles and responsibilities of corporate officers. Senior executives, embroiled in ambitious corporate plans, may find themselves being economical with the truth – a risk the recently published Higgs Report seeks to minimise by recommending that at least half the members of a board should be non-executive directors.
