It’s the time of the year for making resolutions. In January, sales of gymnasium memberships and self-help books increase as people vow once again to slim themselves down and shape themselves up.

The strange thing is that this is almost always a personal decision, rather than a work one. It’s not often you hear an accountant saying, “This year, I’m going to simplify my office,” or the finance director promising to slim down their briefcase in the coming months.
