Stephen Bond
of Conchango demonstrates how, despite the doubts, agile delivery
methodologies can be used to implement business intelligence
solutions.
Moveable feats - Part

Many people in the BI industry don’t believe that agile delivery
frameworks can be applied to data warehouses. BI projects
are too complex to be delivered by a ‘light’ framework, they
say. With object oriented BI projects involving J2EE or .NET,
the multiple toolsets and technologies and the complexity
of the data extractions and transformations, ‘agile’ is just
not suitable.
Yet agile methodologies are akin to product development ones
– the outcome cannot be precisely known; the processes applied
to development are not discrete and therefore are not repeatable
with a high probability. Rather an empirical process is required
where complexity and change are embraced.
