There are some significant changes occurring in the way organisations
choose to view and implement their data warehouses. By opting
for a different approach many companies – particularly small
to medium-sized ones – are finding they can achieve a faster
and more cost-effective solution to their problems of data
storage and manipulation.
Traditionally, companies have looked to address these requirements
by putting in a data warehouse which draws together information
from all their operational systems. In effect, this is like
installing a giant blast furnace with the data from across
the company being used as the fuel.
