A Forrester Research report, Use Business Intelligence to Manage Velocity, looks at how US firms have implemented a wide variety of BI tools. It says that many BI benefits remain elusive because too many deployments have resulted in a mishmash of tools, multiple versions of the ‘truth’ and a failure to answer executives’ key questions for decision making.

Indeed, in a strong echo of the situation now common in the data warehouse market, 80% of those interviewed by Forrester admit that they have multiple BI tools and are actively looking to cut costs by consolidating their investments.
